What a Day in Downtown and in Waukegan!!!

What an amazing day in downtown Waukegan!  June 16th ArtWauk included SoccerWauk hosted by the City of Waukegan, Heart of the City, Puro Futbol, Three Brothers Theatre, The Parlor and La Canoa.  Kids had the opportunity to practice soccer in the streets with SISM Street Soccer and play in an inflatable soccer field on Genesee Street!!! Thanks to ESPN Deportes for coming to our Downtown Arts & Entertainment District and enjoying the fun!

Young and young at heart tried their talents in the inflatable soccer field.

SISM Street Soccer mesmerized the crowd, then invited kids to practice their skills.

Mayor Sam Cunningham and the City gave Heart of the City the first Soccer Day trophy, with the ceremony in front of the Genesee Theatre marquee welcoming everyone to the event.

Congratulations to the newly formed North Genesee International Merchants Block as it kicked off Saturday with a ribbon cutting!! We here at Main Street look forward to continuing our mission to partner and eagerly anticipate continuing our work with South – and now North – Genesee Merchants Blocks.

Congratulations to the business and property owners in the 100 north block of Genesee Street for establishing North Genesee International Merchants Block!

Prior to SoccerWauk, Juneteenth Celebration of Lake County kicked off at Bowen Park!  Food and plenty of vendors with live entertainment including our Bulldog High School Bands and a special performance by Waukegan’s very own Lee England Jr. If you missed the performances for Lee catch our Facebook Live Stream here.  If you missed the Bulldogs Band, catch our Facebook Live Stream here.  Congratulations to the Juneteenth Committee for hosting such a wonderful community event and we look forward to it next year!
